Who gives the toast? When does it occur in the wedding schedule? How in the world am I going to keep it together when it’s my turn?

Never fear, darling. We here at Victoria Belle are ready to answer your questions, as well as throw a few tips your way if you’ve got the privilege of toasting the Bride & Groom!

Wedding Toasts are typically given before the cake cutting. At this point, guests have finished eating, and your MC will be able to round up everyone’s attention for these two important events during the reception.

We support the idea of limiting it to three people, and making sure your MC controls the mic. Traditionally, the order of the wedding toast happens like so:

– Best Man

– Maid of Honor

– Host: Father of the Bride, Mother of the Bride

– Father of the Groom, Mother of the Groom

However, many brides choose to narrow this down to only the Best Man, and Maid of Honor. The F.O.B. will usually open the reception by welcoming everyone, or blessing the food. Hosts and parents of the happy couple are able to raise their glass at the rehearsal dinner around close family and the wedding party.

Here are some tips on not only surviving, but give the greatest toast in history, bringing everyone in the room to happy tears! 😉

– Be bold: The Bride & Groom have chosen you to do this, and want to hear what you have to say!

– Be brief: You are likely not the only person giving a toast, so take 1-3 minutes to speak from the heart, and then let’s get back to the dance floor.

– Be kind: This isn’t a roast, it’s a toast. Bless your friends, don’t make it awkward because you’re being rude.

– Be prepared: Practice in the mirror! The more comfortable you are, the better it will be. Nobody’s expecting this grand, moving tribute. Just be yourself, type it out if you need to, and have fun.
