Christmas….a holiday that delights the senses… twinkling lights, rich colors, and dazzling ornaments; jingling bells, familiar carols and festive music; smells of pine, cinnamon and gingerbread; the warmth and crackle of a blazing fire! No wonder this is a favorite time of the year! With all the magic and romance of the season, what could be a better time for your magical and romantic wedding day?!!
A clear advantage of getting married at Christmas is that many venues are decorated for the holidays with beautiful trees, stunning wreaths, draped garland and candles just waiting to be lit. Just add your personal touches and VOILA..dreams come true!
Where to start with those personal touches? Christmas provides endless options. The combination of the stunning reds and rich evergreens of Christmas pop to bring beauty to any wedding celebration. But these traditional holiday colors certainly don’t limit your December choices! How about a magical winter wonderland using pure white and glistening silver? Or if you love the richness of deep jewel tones, royal blues, burgundies, purples and golds are gorgeous shades for a Christmas wedding. Add soft candlelight or twinkling lights and bring the perfect ambiance to the scene.
Whatever colors you choose, velvet, wool, and fur can add warmth and texture to your winter wedding palette.
Consider velvet shoes for the ladies and velvet bow ties for the gents. Add velvet ribbon to bouquets and floral arrangements. Tartan plaid and buffalo plaid fit well into any holiday event. Plaid or solid woolen blankets can be offered to warm your guests: “To have and to hold, in case you get cold.” Who doesn’t love the luxurious feel of fur?? Faux fur throws add beauty and warmth to your chairs and fur stoles are oh so pretty (and warm) for the bride and her bridesmaids!!

Just because your Christmas wedding is in winter doesn’t mean you can’t have beautiful floral arrangements.
Roses of every shade, from soft white to dazzling red are always in season. Snow white lilies and deep rich amaryllis are also lovely winter blooms Soft yellow and white poinsettias or champagne roses surrounded by berries make beautiful bouquets and arrangements. And don’t forget the holiday greenery! Holly and mistletoe, ivy, sprigs of pine, eucalyptus and magnolia leaves add beauty to bouquets, arrangements and centerpieces.

Temperatures at Christmas can be chilly, and while you’ve got your love to keep you warm, your guests will welcome beverages like hot cocoa with peppermint stirrers, warm apple cider, wassail, or mulled wine. And when we think holiday dining, we think comfort foods. Heavy Hors D’oeuvres and/or a traditional sit down dinner are perfect for this time of year. Keeping with the season, how about a gingerbread or spice wedding cake served with caramel cream cheese icing for the perfect finish?

Create a romantic atmosphere with holiday favorites played on the piano or your DJ can certainly add to the festive vibe by playing familiar holiday songs that make your guests smile and sing along! And what could be a better send-off for the happy couple than guests joyfully ringing jingle bells as you depart into your happily ever after?

are to connect early with vendors because they are often booked for the holidays. Inform your guests of the type venue you have chosen and suggest what type of layered clothing they may need. Also, don’t forget that timing for the ceremony is important. Winter months have fewer hours of beautiful natural daylight. You will want to be sure to talk with your photographer about the best time to get the outdoor photos you want.
